FAQ's
What is the cost of a chimney clean?
It costs from $95 upwards if you live in town for an internal chimney sweep and safety inspection.  If you live outside of town and in rural areas then extra travel charges will apply. Sweeps from rooftop (external sweep) are extra costs due to the height risk involved.  Please call and ask for a costing.

How do I pay you?
Full payment is required onsite once the job is completed. Invoicing will only be by prior arrangement with our office.
A GST Receipt will be issued on payment.

I need to cancel my appointment, how do I contact you?
If you need to change your scheduled booking please let us know at least 24 hours beforehand by calling us on 0220655004. Changes or cancellations made on the day may incur charges if we are unable to fill your space. A call-out fee of $45 + gst will be charged if you are not home for a scheduled appointment (travel costs will also be charged if you are located out of town).

Why is it important to get our chimney cleaned annually?
The chimney flue is essentially your house exhaust pipe - funnelling away soot, hot ashes, smoke and gases from your
home. An annual inspection and sweep should be done at least once a year to make sure the flue is kept clear of creosote build-up, bird nests, blockages and to ensure all parts are in a safe working condition. We recommend to do so early in the year to avoid the mad winter rush and weather delays. You will then be all set to enjoy the warmth and have your fireplace
ready to heat your home for the cooler months. Make sure you have working smoke alarms installed throughout your house. If you have a chimney fire dampen your firebox down via the air controller then dial 111.

Worst case scenario - will my house insurance cover chimney fires?
Most insurance companies won't pay out on claims caused by chimney fires unless the chimney has been swept by a
professional chimney sweep and been inspected on an annual basis. Terms and conditions of your firebox warranty also require your firebox to be swept and inspected annually by a professional chimney technician.

Our fireplace is not drawing correctly and efficiently! What could be the reason?
This is usually the result  burning under-seasoned firewood, burning on low setting which leads to blockages or operational error. Best to get a professional chimney technician to check your firebox and flues.

Why do we have so much creosote in our fireplace/flue?
This is due to burning under-seasoned (green) or gummy firewood or burning too often on low setting. Excessive creosote build-up in your flue is a fire hazard and could result in a chimney fire or a blockage.
